The Joint Video Experts Team (JVET) was established to collaboratively develop video coding standards, by its two parent bodies, ISO/IEC SC29 WG5 and ITU-T SG21/WP3 (formerly SG16/WP3). JVET studies advancements in video coding technology to improve compression capability at an acceptable level of computational complexity, addressing a wide range of use cases. JVET is also responsible for maintaining existing standards developed by the team and its predecessor joint teams, including AVC (ITU-T H.264 | ISO/IEC 14496-2), HEVC (ITU-T H.265 | ISO/IEC 23008-2 ), VVC (ITU-T H.266 | ISO/IEC 23090-3), and VSEI (ITU-T H.274 | ISO/IEC 23007-3).
