Motivations: Haptic feedback, with various modalities, is more and more used in multimedia applications. A representation and coding format is necessary to ease interoperability between applications and devices.
Objectives: A standard for the representation and coding of haptic signals, considering all types of signals/modalities, user perception, localization on bodies, devices capabilities. A JSON Interchange file format and a binary version should be defined to support main haptic applications.
